Electrocardiography (EKG, also written ECG) at Infuze Pomáhá is a standard 12-lead cardiac rhythm assessment. The test records the heart's electrical conduction through electrodes placed at defined anatomical positions — six precordial leads on the chest (V1–V6) and four limb leads (on the wrists and ankles) — providing 12 distinct views of cardiac electrical activity. The recording takes several minutes and the trace is available immediately for review. The 12-lead EKG is one of the most information-rich diagnostic tests available for its simplicity and cost. A single recording can identify: normal sinus rhythm vs arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular ectopics); conduction abnormalities (bundle branch blocks, prolonged QT interval, pre-excitation syndromes such as Wolff-Parkinson-White); ischaemic changes (ST segment elevation and depression, T-wave changes consistent with current or previous coronary artery disease); chamber hypertrophy patterns; and electrolyte disturbances (hyperkalaemia, hypocalcaemia characteristically alter the EKG trace).
