Root canal (endodontic) treatment removes infected or damaged tissue from inside a tooth, disinfects the canals and seals them, relieving pain and saving the natural tooth. Endodontics is InDent's core specialism: treatment is carried out under a dental operating microscope by a team that includes the clinic owner, a member of international endodontic societies. Pricing depends on how many canals the tooth has, and retreatment of previously filled teeth is also offered.
Root canal treatment, or endodontics, addresses the soft tissue (pulp) inside a tooth when it becomes inflamed or infected through deep decay, cracks or trauma. The dentist removes the diseased pulp, carefully cleans and shapes the fine canals inside the roots, disinfects them and then seals the space to prevent reinfection. The aim is to relieve pain and retain a tooth that might otherwise need extraction. Endodontics is the defining specialism at InDent, and treatment is performed under a dental operating microscope — high magnification is associated with locating and cleaning the canal anatomy more thoroughly, which matters for the long-term outcome. Front teeth typically have a single canal, while molars usually have three or more, so the clinic prices treatment by the number of canals involved. Local anaesthesia keeps the procedure comfortable, and a rubber dam is used to isolate the tooth. Depending on complexity, treatment may be completed in one or more visits. The practice also offers retreatment — re-doing a root canal on a tooth that was treated previously but has not healed — which is more technically demanding and priced accordingly. After endodontic treatment a tooth is often restored with a crown or substantial filling to protect it, quoted separately. The clinic's endodontic expertise, including membership of the American Association of Endodontists and the European Society of Endodontology, underpins this part of its work. Your dentist will confirm the number of canals, the likely number of visits and the recommended final restoration at examination.
