Ceramic Veneer (CEREC)

A thin, custom ceramic shell bonded to the front of a tooth to improve its colour, shape or alignment. At Implantclinic veneers are produced with the CEREC chairside system from an all-ceramic block, allowing precise, natural-looking results for chipped, worn, discoloured or slightly uneven front teeth. Minimal tooth preparation is typically needed, and bonding is colour-matched to neighbouring teeth for a seamless finish.

Veneers are slim facings of ceramic permanently bonded to the visible surface of front teeth to enhance a smile. They can mask discolouration that does not respond to whitening, repair chips and worn edges, close small gaps and make slightly irregular teeth look more even and harmonious. Because they sit on the front of the tooth, veneers usually require only conservative preparation compared with a full crown, preserving more of the natural tooth. At Implantclinic veneers are crafted using the CEREC chairside CAD/CAM system: the tooth is scanned digitally, the veneer is designed on screen to the desired shape and proportion, and it is milled from an all-ceramic block before being bonded with a colour-matched adhesive. All-ceramic materials give the translucency and light-handling of natural enamel, so well-made veneers blend convincingly with surrounding teeth. Treatment starts with a discussion of your goals and an assessment of whether veneers, composite bonding or a crown best suits each tooth; for some patients a combination is recommended, and whitening of the other teeth beforehand can help set the target shade. Veneers are intended for adults whose front teeth are sound but cosmetically compromised by colour, shape, minor chips or small spacing; the number of teeth, shade and design are planned together, and the dentist will explain care and the conservative but irreversible nature of the preparation at consultation.
