Dental Implants
Duration
1 hour
A dental implant replaces a single missing tooth with a titanium screw placed into the jawbone, which acts as an artificial root for a crown fitted later. At Implantclinic the implant is placed under local anaesthetic in a procedure of around an hour, after planning with a cone-beam (CBCT) scan and, where useful, a printed surgical guide. The clinic works with established implant systems and includes a warranty replacing the implant at no cost if it is not accepted by the body.
A dental implant is a small titanium post inserted into the jawbone to take the place of a natural tooth root. Once it has integrated with the surrounding bone over a healing period, it provides a stable foundation for a crown, bridge or denture. Because the implant is anchored in bone rather than resting on neighbouring teeth, it does not require those teeth to be reduced, and it helps maintain the bone that would otherwise gradually shrink after tooth loss. At Implantclinic the pathway begins with an implantology consultation and a cone-beam CT scan to assess bone volume and plan the position precisely; a surgical guide can be printed for accurate placement. The implant itself is placed under local anaesthetic in a procedure of roughly an hour that most patients tolerate comfortably. A healing phase of around two to six months follows while the implant fuses with the bone, after which a healing screw is uncovered and the final crown is made — at this clinic typically a CEREC chairside ceramic crown or a screw-retained restoration on a custom abutment. The practice uses recognised implant systems such as Straumann, Alpha Bio and Biomet 3i and provides a warranty covering replacement of the fixture if it is not accepted by the body. Implants are suited to adults with one or more missing teeth and adequate bone; where bone is insufficient, grafting or a sinus lift may be planned first. Suitability, the number of visits and any preparatory steps are confirmed at the planning consultation.
