Both systems apply a professional-strength whitening gel activated by a specialised light to break down stains on enamel and dentine. Before the gel is applied, the dentist performs a thorough polish and applies protective barriers to the lips, gums, and tongue. The procedure concludes with a fluoride gel application to minimise post-treatment sensitivity. Most patients achieve noticeably whiter teeth in a single 60–90 minute appointment. For patients who prefer a gentler or more gradual approach, the take-home whitening kit uses custom-made trays fabricated from a dental impression or iTero 3D digital scan to ensure precise fit and maximum gel contact. Custom trays are worn for 30–45 minutes daily; visible results typically appear within one week, with maximum results after 3–4 weeks. Whitening effects last 1–1.5 years depending on diet and oral hygiene habits. Touch-up top-ups are available at reduced cost using the original custom trays.
