Microscope-assisted root canal treatment saves a tooth whose nerve has become inflamed or infected by cleaning, shaping and sealing the root canals. Root canal (endodontic) treatment is needed when the soft pulp inside a tooth becomes irreversibly inflamed or infected — often from deep decay, a crack or trauma — which can cause severe toothache or an abscess. Rather than removing the tooth, the treatment cleans out the diseased pulp, disinfects and shapes the narrow canals inside each root, and seals them to prevent reinfection, allowing the natural tooth to be kept. At Idental Clinique this is carried out under local anaesthetic and with a dental operating microscope, whose magnification and light help the clinician find and negotiate the complex canal systems of molars, where missed canals are a common reason treatments fail. Pricing reflects the complexity of the tooth: front incisors are 900 zł, premolars 1,000–1,200 zł and molars 1,400–1,800 zł, with re-treatment of a tooth that has failed a previous root filling priced at 1,000–1,900 zł depending on the tooth. The clinic can also manage challenges such as removing a separated instrument or sealing a perforation. Because a root-treated tooth — especially a molar — can become brittle, a crown, onlay or endocrown is frequently recommended afterwards to protect it from fracture, and this restorative stage is quoted separately. Successful treatment is associated with relief of pain and retention of a functional natural tooth; the dentist explains the prognosis for the specific tooth and any alternatives before starting.
