A dental crown is a custom cap that covers a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth to restore its shape, strength and appearance. It fully covers the visible part of the tooth, returning its strength, shape and appearance. At I-Dent the choice ranges from a standard ceramic (porcelain-fused) crown from 1,700 zł, through a full all-ceramic crown from 2,500 zł that contains no metal and gives the most natural light-handling and colour match, to crowns designed to sit on an implant abutment from 3,000 zł. The process typically takes two visits. At the first, the tooth is shaped under local anaesthetic and an impression or digital scan is taken; the clinic then makes a temporary crown on the spot, matched closely to the colour and form of the natural teeth so patients are not left with an obvious gap while the laboratory work is completed. At the second visit the permanent crown is checked for fit, bite and shade and cemented into place. All-ceramic crowns are particularly suited to front teeth and to anyone wanting a metal-free restoration, while porcelain-fused crowns remain a strong, cost-effective option for back teeth. A well-made crown, combined with good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, can last many years.
