Type
Hyperbaric Oxygen
Duration
2 hours
A pressurised monoplace chamber session delivering 100% oxygen at 2–3 atmospheres absolute. Indicated for wound healing, decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning, and general wellness. Sessions are supervised by an experienced diving and hyperbaric physician.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) at Hyperbaric Singapore is administered inside a monoplace chamber manufactured in the USA to Pressure Vessel for Human Occupancy (PVHO) standards. The patient lies comfortably inside the sealed chamber while it is pressurised to between 2 and 3 atmospheres absolute (ATA) using 100% medical-grade oxygen. At this elevated pressure, oxygen dissolves directly into the blood plasma at concentrations 10 to 15 times higher than normal, flooding tissues with oxygen far beyond what haemoglobin alone can carry. This dramatically elevated tissue oxygen level stimulates a cascade of healing processes: angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels), collagen synthesis, reduction of inflammation, enhanced white-blood-cell killing of bacteria, and mobilisation of stem cells from bone marrow. These mechanisms underpin HBOT's effectiveness across a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. At Hyperbaric Singapore, HBOT is used to treat UHMS-approved indications including decompression sickness ("the bends"), arterial gas embolism, carbon monoxide and smoke inhalation poisoning, clostridial myonecrosis (gas gangrene), crush injuries, radiation tissue damage (osteoradionecrosis and soft-tissue radionecrosis), problem wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, acute traumatic ischaemia, and intracranial abscess. The clinic is also used by wellness-oriented patients seeking off-label benefits including accelerated sports recovery, reduced fatigue, and cognitive enhancement. The medical director Dr. Wong Ted Min holds a Diploma in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine from the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society (SPUMS) and has been treating patients with hyperbaric medicine since 1987, making Hyperbaric Singapore one of the most experienced private HBOT providers in Southeast Asia. The clinic is a Corporate Bronze member of the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) and is accredited by Divers Alert Network (DAN) Asia Pacific. Standard sessions run approximately 90 minutes including pressurisation and depressurisation phases. A pre-treatment consultation is required for new patients to screen for contraindications such as untreated pneumothorax, certain ear conditions, or claustrophobia. The clinic operates two chambers allowing flexible scheduling, with weekday hours 9 am–6 pm, Saturday 9 am–1 pm, and emergency 24-hour contact for diving accidents.
