Severe cases with excess skin may require additional skin excision. A 1-night admission is usual for general-anaesthesia procedures.
About this treatment
Gynecomastia — enlarged breast tissue in men — can result from hormonal imbalance, medication effects or simply glandular development. At Klinika Leticia the approach is tailored to the composition of the enlarged tissue: if predominantly fatty, liposuction alone under local anaesthesia may be sufficient; if glandular tissue is present, surgical gland excision is added under general anaesthesia. Extreme cases with skin excess may require additional skin removal. An endocrinology evaluation is recommended if a hormonal cause is suspected.
Post-operatively, a compression garment is worn for several weeks and sutures are removed within 2 weeks. The procedure is not suitable for men whose enlargement is entirely due to generalised obesity rather than glandular development.
