Cardiac CT Check-Up Package

Type

Cardiac CT

Duration

2 hours

Comprehensive cardiac check-up combining a cardiologist consultation, ECG, and ECG-gated cardiac CT angiography of the coronary arteries. Detects stenosis, atherosclerotic plaque, and structural heart abnormalities without invasive catheterisation. Package from CHF 2,900 at Switzerland's largest private cardiovascular medicine network.

The Cardiac CT Check-Up Package at Hirslanden Klinik Im Park is the flagship outpatient cardiovascular screening programme at Switzerland's most comprehensive private heart centre. The package brings together a complete cardiological assessment in a single visit: a detailed consultation with a specialist cardiologist, a resting 12-lead ECG, and a state-of-the-art ECG-gated cardiac CT angiography of the coronary arteries — all within one of Switzerland's top-10 ranked private hospitals. Coronary CT angiography (CCTA) uses contrast-enhanced multi-detector CT with ECG synchronisation to image the left main, left anterior descending, left circumflex, and right coronary arteries in three dimensions. This technique can detect stenosis (narrowing), non-calcified soft plaques, calcified plaques, and coronary anomalies with high spatial resolution, without the procedural risks, recovery time, or additional radiation associated with invasive cardiac catheterisation. European Society of Cardiology guidelines recommend CCTA as a first-line investigation for stable chest pain in patients with low-to-intermediate pre-test probability of coronary artery disease, and the technique has an exceptionally high negative predictive value — a normal CCTA reliably excludes significant coronary disease. The examination is performed by cardiologists and radiologists with subspecialty cardiovascular imaging expertise across the nine partner practices of the cardiovascular medicine network. Before scanning, heart rate is assessed and, where necessary, rate control is arranged to optimise image quality; nitro spray is administered to dilate the coronary arteries. Iodine contrast is injected intravenously, and patients experience a brief, harmless warm sensation as it circulates. Total time at the clinic is approximately 60 to 90 minutes including consultation, preparation, imaging, and post-scan review. The written report from the cardiologist outlines per-vessel stenosis grading, plaque characterisation, and an overall clinical summary with management recommendations. For patients in whom significant disease is identified, the multidisciplinary heart team model at Klinik Im Park ensures seamless access to further investigation, percutaneous intervention, or surgical care through the same network. The package is available to self-pay patients, international visitors, and those with Swiss complementary health insurance.
