Gastroscopy for stomach and oesophageal cancer prevention, available as an add-on to diagnostic programs.

A gastroscopy (upper endoscopy) involves passing a thin, flexible camera through the mouth to examine the oesophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine (duodenum). It screens for oesophageal cancer, stomach cancer, Barrett's oesophagus, ulcers, and other upper GI conditions. At HealthScreen, gastroscopy is offered as an add-on to diagnostic programs when clinically indicated. The procedure is performed under sedation by the medical team at Hampton Day Hospital. Biopsies can be taken during the procedure for pathological analysis if any suspicious areas are identified. Gastroscopy is particularly relevant for individuals with persistent reflux, difficulty swallowing, unexplained upper abdominal pain, or a family history of stomach cancer. When combined with colonoscopy (available as a package for $600), both upper and lower GI tracts are screened in a single sedated session.
