The most extensive male-specific screening at GulfCare, covering 171 biomarkers with dedicated panels for prostate health, male hormones, advanced cardiac risk, and a broad tumour marker set alongside the full metabolic, haematological, and nutritional workup.
GulfCare's Male Wellness package represents the deepest blood-based diagnostic profile the centre offers for men, assembling 171 biomarkers into a single-visit screening that would typically require referrals across endocrinology, cardiology, urology, and general internal medicine. The prostate health component goes beyond total PSA by adding free PSA and calculating the free-to-total ratio, a refinement that improves specificity in the grey zone between 4 and 10 ng/mL where total PSA alone generates a high rate of false positives. This ratio helps distinguish benign prostatic conditions from findings that warrant further imaging or biopsy. The male hormonal panel covers total and free testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), oestradiol, LH, FSH, prolactin, DHEA-S, and cortisol. SHBG is particularly relevant because it determines how much circulating testosterone is biologically available — a man can have a normal total testosterone level while functionally experiencing low androgenic activity if SHBG is elevated, a pattern common in ageing, obesity, and thyroid dysfunction. Advanced cardiac risk assessment adds apolipoprotein B, apolipoprotein A1, the ApoB/A1 ratio, lipoprotein(a), and homocysteine to the standard lipid panel and hs-CRP. ApoB is gaining recognition as a more accurate predictor of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease than LDL cholesterol because it counts all atherogenic lipoprotein particles rather than estimating cholesterol mass. The expanded nutritional and metabolic panels cover a full thyroid function set (TSH, free T3, free T4, thyroid antibodies), liver enzymes with GGT and direct/indirect bilirubin fractionation, a comprehensive mineral panel (magnesium, zinc, selenium, copper, phosphorus), and B-vitamins including active B12 and methylmalonic acid. Results are compiled into a structured digital report within 48 hours, with optional in-centre review by a GP.
