Lip Augmentation and Contouring

Lip augmentation and contouring uses hyaluronic-acid (HA) filler to enhance lip volume, refine the vermilion border (the edge of the lip), hydrate the tissue and correct small asymmetries between the upper and lower lip. Because hyaluronic acid binds water, it also gives lips a smoother, more hydrated appearance beyond pure volume. At GH Solutions the procedure is performed by a physician in the Blue House clinic at Spa Resort Sanssouci and begins with a consultation to agree the shape and degree of enhancement you want — subtle definition, a fuller pout or rebalancing an uneven lip. A topical anaesthetic is applied and the HA gel, which itself contains lidocaine, is injected in small aliquots along the lip body and border using a fine needle or cannula. The injection phase takes only around half an hour. Swelling immediately after treatment is normal and can make the lips look larger than the final result for the first day or two; bruising is possible and small. You'll be advised to avoid heat, vigorous exercise, alcohol and lip pressure for the rest of the day, and to keep the lips moisturised. The shape settles within roughly two weeks, and results generally last six to nine months before the filler is gradually metabolised. As with all HA filler, the product can be dissolved if you are unhappy with the result. Contraindications screened at consultation include pregnancy and breastfeeding, active cold sores or infection around the mouth, and known allergy to the product; a history of cold sores may prompt antiviral cover.
