Photorejuvenation (IPL Skin Rejuvenation)

Type

Laser

Duration

40 min

Photorejuvenation uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to even out skin tone by reducing pigmentation spots and visible red veins, while stimulating collagen and elastin for firmer, fresher skin. The light targets melanin and blood vessels without harming the surrounding skin. At GH Solutions it is a non-invasive treatment for the face, neck, décolleté and hands, with results building over a short series of sessions.

Photorejuvenation, also called IPL (intense pulsed light) skin rejuvenation, is a non-invasive light treatment that improves the overall tone and clarity of the skin. IPL delivers a broad spectrum of light that is absorbed by two main targets: the melanin in pigmentation spots (sun spots, age spots, uneven pigment) and the haemoglobin in dilated blood vessels and broken capillaries that cause facial redness and thread veins. The light energy heats and breaks down these targets, which are then cleared by the body, while the gentle heat also stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin — gradually firming the skin and refining its texture. At GH Solutions photorejuvenation is performed in the Blue House clinic at Spa Resort Sanssouci on the face and, because sun exposure affects them too, the neck, décolleté and backs of the hands. A session begins with cleansing and protective eyewear; a cool gel is applied and the IPL handpiece is passed over the skin, delivering pulses of light that feel like a quick warm snap. A facial session takes around thirty to forty-five minutes. Pigmentation spots often darken briefly before flaking away over the following days, and redness usually settles within hours. There is minimal downtime — you can return to normal activities the same day with diligent sun protection. Because the targets are treated progressively, a short course of sessions a few weeks apart gives the best, most even result. IPL is not suitable for very dark or freshly tanned skin, as the light can over-target background pigment; this and other contraindications such as pregnancy and photosensitising medication are screened at consultation.
