Light Chemical Peel (AHA / BHA)

Type

Chemical Peels

Duration

30 min

Doctor-administered superficial chemical peel using alpha-hydroxy acids (glycolic / lactic) and beta-hydroxy acid (salicylic) at clinic-grade concentrations to exfoliate the stratum corneum, accelerate cell turnover and brighten skin tone. Suitable for almost all skin types, with no downtime — a quick lunch-break treatment that compounds over a course of 4–6 sessions.

Light chemical peeling is the foundation of any modern skincare protocol. By controlled application of low-pH acid solutions to the skin's outermost layer (stratum corneum), the peel dissolves the corneocyte bonds and produces gentle, even exfoliation — accomplishing in 5 minutes what a month of daily home-use products would do. Gen Z Clinic offers two main acid families at light-peel strength: • Alpha-Hydroxy Acids (AHA): Glycolic acid 20–40% and Lactic acid 20–40%. Water-soluble, work on the outer layer for brightening, even tone, and improvement of fine lines and dryness. Best for dry / dull / mature skin. • Beta-Hydroxy Acid (BHA): Salicylic acid 20–30%. Oil-soluble, penetrates into pores. Best for oily / acne-prone skin, blackheads, comedones. The doctor will prescribe the appropriate acid based on a brief skin-type assessment. Both are applied to clean, dry skin for 3–5 minutes, then neutralized. Client experience: warm tingling sensation, mild stinging at application. No frosting (that's deeper-peel territory). Skin appears slightly pink for 1–2 hours, then returns to normal. Slight flaking can occur for 2–3 days after — this is expected and a sign of working exfoliation. Protocol: Generally a course of 4–6 peels every 2–3 weeks gives visible smoothing, brightening and tone improvement. Maintenance is 1 peel every 4–6 weeks. Often combined with a Q-Switch or IPL session in the same visit for stacked benefits. Not for: pregnancy, isotretinoin within 6 months, active herpes / cold sores, recent (≤2 weeks) sunburn, open wounds.
