Laser Scar Treatment

CO2 laser treatment to improve the appearance of scars by resurfacing the affected skin and stimulating collagen so the scar blends more smoothly with the surrounding area. Laser scar treatment uses fractional CO2 laser energy to remodel scar tissue. By creating microscopic columns of controlled injury within and around the scar, the laser prompts the skin's healing response and new collagen formation, a process associated over time with a flatter, softer scar and a better colour and texture match to the surrounding skin. Raised (hypertrophic) scars, sunken (atrophic) scars and discoloured scars can all respond, though the degree of improvement varies with the scar's age, depth and type. At Gabinet Zabiegowy PLUS the scar is assessed and the area cleansed and numbed before treatment. A single scar is treated as a focused session, while extensive post-acne scarring across the face is treated as a larger area. Afterwards the treated skin is pink and may crust lightly for several days as it heals; sun protection and gentle aftercare are important. Because remodelling is gradual, more than one session spaced several weeks apart is often needed for the best outcome, and results continue to develop for months.
