SkinTyte is a non-ablative skin tightening protocol available on the Sciton BBL platform at Fulcrum Aesthetics, using the infrared spectrum of broadband light to heat the deep dermal and subdermal collagen network without injuring the overlying epidermis. Unlike narrowband devices that emit a single wavelength, the Sciton SkinTyte filter transmits broad infrared energy across the 800–1100 nm range, creating distributed heating of the fibrous dermal matrix at multiple tissue depths simultaneously. The in-built cooling system in the Sciton handpiece maintains epidermal surface temperature within safe limits throughout the energy delivery, ensuring the thermal dose accumulates in the dermis rather than at the skin surface. As dermal collagen is heated to approximately 60–65°C, existing collagen fibres undergo denaturation and controlled contraction, followed by a wound-healing response over the ensuing weeks that generates new, more compact collagen and elastin fibres — the mechanism that gradually tightens the skin. Common treatment areas at Fulcrum include the face and jawline (to improve mild laxity and jowling), the neck and décolletage, upper arms, abdomen, and inner thighs. A course of three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is typically recommended to achieve visible tightening, with progressive improvement as collagen matures over three to six months after treatment. Because SkinTyte is delivered on the same Sciton BBL platform, it can be combined with a BBL photofacial in the same appointment — addressing both chromophoric concerns (pigmentation, redness) and structural skin laxity simultaneously.
