Fulcrum Aesthetics uses the Sciton BBL (BroadBand Light) platform — considered the clinical benchmark in broad-spectrum light treatment — as the foundation for photofacial and skin rejuvenation treatments. BBL emits intense pulsed broad-spectrum light filtered to specific wavelength ranges using interchangeable cut-off filters, allowing the clinician to precisely target specific chromophores: melanin for pigmented lesions and hair, and oxyhemoglobin for vascular lesions such as rosacea, capillary redness, and cherry angiomas. The high peak-power output of Sciton's BBL platform delivers more precise and controlled energy deposition compared to lower-power IPL devices, enabling effective treatment with fewer pulses and a reduced risk of epidermal heat buildup. Treatable conditions include solar lentigines (sunspots and age spots), epidermal freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, diffuse redness and flushing, rosacea, telangiectasias, and general photodamage. The MOXI 1927 nm non-ablative laser, also available at Fulcrum, complements BBL by resurfacing the superficial epidermal layer for tone and texture improvement while BBL addresses the chromophoric targets. The standard treatment response includes mild redness post-session (resolving within hours to a day) and a characteristic darkening of treated pigmented lesions over five to seven days as the shattered melanin aggregates near the surface before being exfoliated. The full improvement in tone, texture, and pigmentation is typically seen over four to eight weeks as the cleared pigment is processed and new, more uniform melanin distribution emerges.
