Removal of a tooth that cannot be saved — through extensive decay, fracture, advanced gum disease or crowding — carried out as gently as possible under local anaesthesia. Straightforward teeth are removed by a simple extraction, while broken-down, impacted or difficult teeth may need a minor surgical procedure. About this treatment
An extraction is recommended when a tooth is too damaged or diseased to be restored, when it is severely loose from advanced gum disease, or occasionally to relieve crowding.
