A dental implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up: a small titanium post is placed in the jawbone to act as an artificial root, and once it has integrated a custom crown is fitted on top. Unlike a bridge it does not rely on the neighbouring teeth, and it helps preserve the jawbone. The implant placement and the final crown are staged over a few months and priced separately, planned at a surgical consultation.
