Lung CT Scan

Type

MRI Scan

Duration

3 min

A three-minute low-dose CT scan of the lungs and surrounding chest structures, capable of detecting tumours as small as 3mm along with pulmonary embolism, pneumonia, and other lung diseases. No contrast dye is used, making it a quick, non-invasive screening option for current or former smokers and those with occupational lung exposure.

Lung cancer remains one of the most lethal cancers worldwide, largely because it is typically diagnosed at an advanced stage when symptoms finally appear. Low-dose CT scanning has emerged as the most effective screening tool for early lung cancer detection, and Ezra's lung CT protocol is designed to make this screening as accessible and straightforward as possible. The scan takes approximately three minutes and uses a reduced radiation dose compared to standard diagnostic CT. No contrast dye is required, eliminating the need for intravenous access and the small risk of contrast reactions. The imaging covers the lungs and surrounding chest structures, and is capable of detecting solid and ground-glass nodules as small as 3mm — far smaller than what a standard chest X-ray can identify. Beyond primary lung cancer screening, the scan may detect pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lung arteries), signs of pneumonia, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, and other parenchymal lung diseases. Incidental findings in the mediastinum and chest wall are also reportable. As with all Ezra scans, images are reviewed by board-certified radiologists and results are delivered through the online platform within seven to ten business days. This scan is most valuable for current or former smokers, individuals with a family history of lung cancer, those with occupational exposure to dust, asbestos, or other inhaled hazards, and anyone who wants targeted chest screening to complement Ezra's full-body MRI — which does not include the lungs or chest.
