The '4D' designation refers to four distinct laser modes applied in sequence during a single 60-minute session, each targeting a different tissue depth and achieving a different biological response: **Mode 1 — SmoothLiftin (intraoral Er:YAG):** A handpiece is introduced into the mouth to deliver Er:YAG laser energy to the inner mucosal surface of the cheeks. This internal heating generates deep connective tissue contraction and collagen remodelling in the subcutaneous and fascial layers — a mechanism not achievable from external approaches alone.
