PRP Plasma Therapy — Skin & Hair

Type

PRP/PRF Therapy

Duration

1 hour

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy at Esthetic Medical uses the patient's own blood — a small sample is drawn, centrifuged to concentrate platelets, and the resulting growth-factor-rich fraction is injected into the treatment area. The clinic is certified for plasma therapy and offers it for two primary indications: skin rejuvenation (improving texture, fine lines, and radiance on the face, neck, and décolletage) and hair loss (stimulating dormant follicles in androgenetic alopecia or diffuse thinning). Combined PRP/HA protocols incorporating hyaluronic acid are also available. Sessions take approximately 60 minutes.

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is an autologous regenerative procedure that harnesses the concentrated growth factors naturally stored in platelets — including PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, EGF, and IGF-1 — to signal fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and hair follicle stem cells to proliferate and produce collagen, elastin, and new blood vessels. Because the plasma is derived from the patient's own blood, immunological reactions are not possible and the safety profile is excellent. At Esthetic Medical, the procedure begins with a venous blood draw of 10–20 ml. The blood is placed in a centrifuge specifically calibrated for PRP preparation, spinning at a set speed to separate the red cells and most of the platelet-poor plasma, leaving behind a concentrated platelet fraction two to five times richer than baseline. The preparation is then loaded into fine-gauge syringes for injection. For facial skin rejuvenation, the PRP is delivered via a series of intradermal micro-injections across the cheeks, periorbital area, forehead, and/or neck. The growth factors stimulate fibroblast activity, increasing collagen density and improving skin elasticity over a 4–12 week period. Most patients notice a subtle glow within 2–3 weeks as vascularisation improves. Combining the PRP with small quantities of hyaluronic acid in a single protocol (the PRP/HA approach) adds immediate biostimulation to volumisation, amplifying the result. For alopecia and hair thinning, the PRP is injected intradermally across the scalp at the level of the hair follicle bulb, using a mapping grid to distribute growth factors evenly. Clinical studies in androgenetic alopecia report a meaningful increase in hair density and diameter after a series of three sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with maintenance sessions at 6-month intervals thereafter. The clinic is formally certified for plasma therapy, reflecting adherence to preparation and sterility standards. A topical anaesthetic is applied to the scalp prior to injection to minimise discomfort. The entire appointment — including blood draw, centrifuge preparation, and injection — takes approximately 60 minutes.
