Thread treatments use absorbable sutures, most commonly polydioxanone (PDO), placed into the skin with fine needles or cannulas. Smooth mono threads are laid down in a mesh to stimulate collagen along their path and improve skin firmness and texture, while barbed (cog) threads such as the First Lift range grip the tissue to provide a mechanical lift to sagging areas of the lower face. The threads themselves are gradually broken down by the body over months, but the collagen response they trigger is associated with a longer-lasting supportive effect. At EstheticKompleks the area is assessed and numbed before treatment, which takes around forty-five to sixty minutes depending on how many threads are used. Afterwards there may be mild tenderness, slight swelling or small bruises and a pulling sensation for a few days, with most normal activity resumed quickly while avoiding wide mouth movements and facial massage initially.
