Duration

Pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation using the REDOX focused electromagnetic neurostimulation device for stress and urge incontinence — a non-invasive alternative to physiotherapy or surgery. The device generates 52,000 supramaximal pelvic floor muscle contractions per 25-minute session while the patient sits fully clothed on or near the applicator. This intensity of stimulation is impossible to replicate through voluntary Kegel exercise and produces measurable strengthening of the pelvic floor musculature over an eight-session course. The treatment is particularly suited to post-partum or peri-menopausal women for whom conventional exercise has proven insufficient.
Urinary incontinence — the involuntary leakage of urine — affects a significant proportion of adults, with stress incontinence (leakage during coughing, sneezing or exercise) and urge incontinence (sudden strong need to urinate before reaching the toilet) being the two most common forms. Both types are associated with weakened pelvic floor musculature: the network of muscles and connective tissue that support the bladder, uterus and rectum, and that play an active role in continence by maintaining sufficient urethral closure pressure. Conventional first-line treatment is Kegel physiotherapy — voluntary contractions of the pelvic floor. The limitation of Kegel training is that it requires patients to correctly identify and isolate the pelvic floor muscles (many do not) and to sustain a high weekly training volume over several months. Compliance is poor and many patients do not achieve sufficient results through exercise alone. The REDOX device bypasses the voluntary pathway entirely: focused electromagnetic pulses penetrate the pelvic floor musculature and induce supramaximal contractions — muscle recruitment at a level that voluntary effort cannot achieve. Each 25-minute session produces approximately 52,000 contractions, delivering the equivalent of thousands of perfectly executed Kegel exercises in a short, supervised session. The patient sits or lies with the applicator positioned at the perineum; no disrobing is required. The sensation is a rhythmic pressure and tightening that most patients find intense but not painful. A course of eight sessions, typically two per week for four weeks, produces significant improvement in pelvic floor muscle strength as measured by objective assessments. Patients commonly report reduction in leakage episodes, longer time between urges and improved confidence in daily activities. Benefits develop progressively during the course and continue for several weeks after the final session as muscle adaptation consolidates. The treatment is suitable for men as well as women, including post-prostatectomy incontinence. It is also appropriate for diastasis recti (abdominal muscle separation after pregnancy) and for general pelvic floor maintenance in athletes. Contraindications include metallic implants in the pelvic area, pacemakers, pregnancy and active genito-urinary infection.
