Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers — Facial Contouring (Restylane / Juvederm)

Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers restore tissue volume by introducing a biocompatible gel into the dermis or subcutaneous layer. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the skin's extracellular matrix that binds water up to 1,000 times its weight; when cross-linked into a stable gel formulation it maintains this hydration while resisting rapid breakdown, providing a sustained filling and lifting effect before gradual resorption over months. The Restylane family (Q-med) spans from Restylane Touch (for superficial fine lines), Restylane Classic and Perlane (for moderate and deep folds), Restylane SubQ (for facial contouring and deep structural support), and Restylane Vital (for large-area skin hydration and smoothing). The Juvederm family (Allergan) includes Juvederm 18, 24, 30 and 24HV/30HV for folds and creases, and the premium Vycross-technology products — Juvederm Voluma, Volbella and Volift — for 3D facial modelling: Voluma for cheek projection and midface lifting, Volbella for delicate perioral and periocular areas, and Volift for nasolabial and marionette line correction. This dual certification means she can choose the best-fit product for each patient's tissue characteristics rather than defaulting to a single brand. Before treatment, topical anaesthetic cream can be applied for patient comfort; most Juvederm products also contain lidocaine. Injection is performed using either a standard fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula (+200 Kč) — the cannula approach is preferred for areas with higher bruising risk (e.g. tear troughs, nasolabial fold base) as it passes through tissue planes rather than penetrating vessels. Results are visible immediately after treatment, though minor swelling — particularly around the lips, which may persist two to five days — temporarily affects the final appearance. HA fillers are reversible: if the outcome is not as desired, the enzyme hyaluronidase dissolves the gel. Contraindications include active infection at the injection site, certain autoimmune disorders and pregnancy. The evidence of allergy risk with HA fillers is extremely low (synthetic HA, not animal-derived); a detailed allergy history is nonetheless taken at consultation.
