Erbium laser resurfacing is an ablative skin-renewal treatment that precisely removes the outer skin layers to trigger intensive collagen regeneration, making it significantly more aggressive — and more transformative — than non-ablative alternatives. Erbium:YAG laser operates at a wavelength of 2940 nm, which is highly absorbed by water in skin tissue. This means it ablates the epidermis and superficial dermis in a very controlled, layer-by-layer fashion with minimal thermal spread to surrounding tissue — making it safer on delicate zones like the eye area and eyelids than the CO2 laser while still delivering meaningful resurfacing depth.
