Injection Lipolysis (Fat Dissolving)

Type

Fat Dissolving

Duration

45 min

Injection lipolysis is a non-surgical body-contouring treatment in which a solution is injected into stubborn pockets of fat to break down fat cells, which the body then processes and removes. At Estetica Clinic it targets localised deposits — such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs or under the chin — that resist diet and exercise. It is intended for people of normal weight or slight excess, not as a treatment for general obesity.

Injection lipolysis is a non-invasive method of body modelling that works by introducing, via injection, a substance that breaks down fat cells. Once the cells are disrupted, the released fats are processed through the body's normal metabolism and eliminated. It is presented as a modern alternative to more painful and complication-prone procedures such as liposuction, and is used for the safe, targeted reduction of fat in a specific area. The injected mixture typically combines phosphatidylcholine and deoxycholate with ingredients such as L-carnitine or organic silica: phosphatidylcholine is a natural component of the body (lecithin) long used in medicine, and together with deoxycholate it acts in the fatty tissue to break down triglycerides after the fat cells are destroyed, while L-carnitine supports fat metabolism. At Estetica Clinic the treatment is intended for people of normal weight or with a slight excess; it helps with so-called local fat deposits — folds on the back, the abdomen, thighs, the area under the chin, around the waist, above the knees and similar — that are hard to shift through diet or exercise. In people with substantial, widespread obesity the treatment is not effective. A session begins with a discussion of past and current illnesses and any allergies, after which a fine needle is used to inject the preparation into the marked areas, sometimes after a numbing cream is applied. Redness and a burning sensation at the injection sites are normal and pass quickly; afterwards there may be swelling, lingering tenderness, itching or small bruises, which are typical signs of fat-cell breakdown. Normal activity can resume immediately. Treatment is associated with a reduction of a few centimetres in circumference at the injection area and is usually repeated two to three times a few weeks apart, with lymphatic-drainage treatments often recommended afterwards to help clear the broken-down fat. It is not performed in pregnancy or breastfeeding, clotting disorders, epilepsy, liver or kidney disease, active skin infection at the site, allergy to the preparation, or in obesity.
