Hyaluronidase (Filler Dissolving)

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme treatment used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler that has already been placed — whether to correct an unwanted result, an asymmetry or an overfilled area, or simply to reverse a previous treatment. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid, and in aesthetic practice it is used specifically to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler that has previously been injected. This ability to reverse a treatment is one of the key reasons hyaluronic acid is considered a safe and forgiving filler: if a result is uneven, overdone, has migrated, or a client simply changes their mind, the gel does not have to be waited out but can be actively reduced or removed. At Estetica Clinic hyaluronidase is delivered as a focused treatment, with the enzyme injected into the area where the filler is located so that it can act on the gel directly. Some swelling or redness at the injection site is normal in the hours afterwards, and the filler softens and resolves over the following days. Depending on how much product is present, how it was placed and the type of hyaluronic acid used, more than one session is occasionally required to achieve the desired correction. Because the enzyme also acts on the body's own hyaluronic acid in the immediate area, the practitioner reviews the client's history and the circumstances before treating, and a brief sensitivity check may be appropriate. The treatment is associated with reduction of previously placed hyaluronic acid filler. As with other injectable treatments, it is not performed where there is active infection at the site or a relevant contraindication, which is assessed beforehand.
