Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Type

Tummy Tuck

Duration

3 hours

Abdominoplasty at Estela removes excess skin and fat from the mid-to-lower abdomen, tightens the abdominal wall muscles (rectus abdominis plication), and — in the full version — relocates the navel to a natural position in the reshaped abdomen. A mini abdominoplasty addresses only the lower abdominal zone without navel repositioning and carries a lower price. Both are performed under general anaesthesia at St. Anna Faculty Hospital with a minimum one-night stay included. The procedure is particularly effective for patients who retain loose, overstretched abdominal skin and separated muscles (diastasis recti) after pregnancy or significant weight loss — areas where diet and exercise have no impact on the loose tissue itself.

Abdominoplasty — tummy tuck surgery — targets three distinct anatomical problems that cannot be resolved through exercise or diet alone: excess skin laxity, persistent sub-umbilical fat deposits, and diastasis recti (the separation of the paired rectus abdominis muscles that commonly follows pregnancy). By addressing all three simultaneously, the procedure can restore a flat, firm abdominal profile and a functional core that is not achievable through other means. Estela offers two configurations. The full abdominoplasty (CZK 46,400) involves an incision across the lower abdomen from hip to hip, positioned low enough to fall within a bikini line. All loose skin above the pubis is elevated off the abdominal wall; the rectus muscles are plicated (sutured together in the midline) to narrow the waist and tighten the core; excess skin and fat are removed; and the navel is relocated through a new opening created in the repositioned skin envelope. The mini abdominoplasty (CZK 39,000) uses a shorter incision and works only on the lower abdominal zone below the navel — suitable for patients whose concern is limited to below the navel and whose navel sits at an appropriate height without repositioning. Surgery takes two to five hours under general anaesthesia (duration varies with the extent of correction and whether liposuction is combined). General anaesthesia is administered at St. Anna Faculty Hospital, where patients stay for a minimum of one night post-operatively. A compression bandage or abdominal binder is applied in theatre and worn for six to ten weeks to support the healing abdominal wall. Patients typically return to desk work within two to four weeks, avoid strenuous lifting for three months, and see their final result by three months — though scar maturation continues for up to one year. Ideal candidates are adults who are at or close to their target body weight and have realistic expectations about the outcome; abdominoplasty is a contouring and skin-reduction procedure, not a weight-loss tool. Patients planning future pregnancies are advised to postpone the procedure until their family is complete, as subsequent pregnancy will stretch the repaired abdominal wall. A pre-operative internal medical examination, fasting before surgery, and one week without smoking are required.
