The excess tissue is then excised using a technique selected to match the patient's anatomy: the trim technique removes tissue along the labial edge and is preferred for patients with irregular margins, while the wedge technique preserves the natural labial border and produces a scar concealed within the fold. Haemostasis is achieved during the procedure to minimise post-operative bruising. Wounds are closed with fine, absorbable sutures that dissolve naturally — eliminating the need for a separate suture removal appointment. The procedure takes 45 to 60 minutes for both sides.
