Root canal re-treatment addresses a tooth where a previous root canal has failed or re-infected, reopening the tooth to clean, disinfect and reseal the canals under a microscope. Endodontic re-treatment (reendo) is needed when a tooth that has already had a root canal develops new symptoms, persistent infection or a problem revealed on an X-ray. Causes can include canals that were missed or incompletely sealed the first time, a leaking restoration that let bacteria back in, or complex root anatomy. The dentist carefully removes the previous root-filling material, re-cleans and disinfects the canal system — often locating additional or calcified canals under magnification — and reseals it, giving the tooth a further chance before extraction is considered. Where infection persists at the root tip despite re-treatment, the clinic offers microscopic apex resection — a minor surgical procedure to remove the very end of the root and seal it — from 1,800 zł. The tooth is then restored, typically with a crown on back teeth, to protect it.
