Botulinum Toxin (Botox)

Botulinum toxin injections relax targeted facial muscles to soften dynamic expression lines such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet. At Erwin Clinic, whose lead dentist also practises aesthetic medicine, the treatment is offered per area at 500 zł, alongside a dental application — relaxing the jaw muscles to manage bruxism (teeth grinding) and the wear and jaw tension it causes.

Botulinum toxin is a purified protein that temporarily reduces the activity of the muscles it is injected into. In facial aesthetics it is used to ease the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles — the vertical frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines and the crow's feet at the outer eyes — so the overlying skin creases less and looks smoother and more rested, while keeping natural expression. The effect is not permanent and gradually wears off as muscle action returns. At Erwin Clinic the injections are carried out by a practitioner who also works in aesthetic medicine, after discussing the areas to treat; pricing is 500 zł per treated area. The procedure takes around ten to fifteen minutes using a fine needle, usually without anaesthetic, and normal activities can be resumed the same day while avoiding rubbing the area, heat and strenuous exercise for the rest of the day. Results appear over several days and settle within about two weeks, typically lasting a few months. The clinic also offers a well-established dental use of botulinum toxin: injecting the masseter (chewing) muscles to relieve bruxism — habitual clenching or grinding — which is associated with tooth wear, jaw muscle tension and headaches, priced at 1,100 zł and often combined with a night guard. Suitability and contraindications, including pregnancy and breastfeeding, are reviewed beforehand.
