Coolaser® is Dr. Simon Ourian's proprietary ablative fractional resurfacing laser, developed exclusively at Epione Beverly Hills. It targets acne scars, pigmentation, rosacea, melasma, stretch marks, and fine lines using controlled ablative energy with a reduced-downtime profile compared to full-field ablative lasers. The Coolaser® is the flagship proprietary laser technology developed by Dr. Simon Ourian at Epione Beverly Hills, and it forms the foundation of the clinic's resurfacing programme. Unlike conventional carbon dioxide (CO₂) or erbium-YAG full-field ablative lasers — which remove the entire skin surface in the treatment zone and require seven to fourteen days of recovery — the Coolaser® uses a fractional ablative delivery pattern that creates columns of ablated tissue surrounded by intact skin bridges. These intact zones serve as reservoirs of keratinocytes and stem cells that migrate inward to resurface the treated columns rapidly, significantly reducing the healing timeline compared to traditional ablative approaches. The laser targets water chromophores in the skin cells, vaporising them with precision-controlled energy pulses calibrated to the treatment depth required. At greater depth settings, the Coolaser® also triggers a collagen remodelling response in the underlying dermis, which continues to improve skin texture, tone, and scar volume over the weeks following treatment. The laser is FDA-cleared for cosmetic improvement of skin texture, tone, wrinkles, and pigmentation. At Epione, it is used extensively for acne scarring (icepick, boxcar, and rolling subtypes), pigmentation disorders including melasma and solar lentigines, rosacea, stretch mark remodelling, and fine line reduction. The clinic also deploys companion platforms Coolbeam® — a fractional non-ablative approach for patients seeking less downtime — and CoolFrax™ for the periocular zone and other delicate areas.
