About this treatment
A veneer is a thin facing fixed to the front surface of a tooth to change its appearance — improving discolouration that does not respond to whitening, closing small gaps, reshaping worn or uneven edges, and creating a more harmonious smile. Veneers are mainly a cosmetic treatment for the teeth that show when you smile, and are usually planned as a set so colour and shape are consistent.
At EM Dent porcelain veneers are made in a dental laboratory from impressions or a digital scan. A small amount of enamel is usually prepared from the front of the tooth so the veneer sits flush, after which it is bonded into place with a tooth-coloured adhesive; the dentist checks shade and shape carefully before final bonding.
