Dental Implant

Type

Dental Implants

Duration

2 hours

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth with a titanium post placed into the jawbone, which acts as a root for a crown once it has integrated. At EM Dent implants are placed by a dentist focused on implantology and bone regeneration, with sinus-lift and bone-grafting options available when more support is needed. Single implants, implant-supported crowns and implant-retained dentures are all offered, with each stage priced transparently.

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed into the jawbone to take the place of a natural tooth root. Over a healing period the bone bonds to the implant surface in a process called osseointegration, creating a stable foundation onto which a crown, bridge or denture can later be attached. Implants are a long-term way to replace one or several missing teeth without grinding down neighbouring teeth, and they help maintain the bone that tends to shrink after tooth loss. At EM Dent the implant pathway begins with an assessment and imaging — the clinic has in-house CBCT and panoramic X-ray — to check bone volume and plan the position. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, and for patients who feel anxious the practice also offers treatment under inhalation sedation. Where the bone is thin, a closed or open sinus lift or guided bone regeneration may be carried out to build up support; these are assessed case by case. After a healing phase the dentist fits an abutment and a final crown, with a temporary crown available in the interim. Implant-retained overdentures using two or four locators are an option for patients missing many teeth. The number of visits, the need for any grafting and the most suitable components are discussed at consultation, and good oral hygiene and follow-up help support the long-term outcome.
