A surgical consultation is a dedicated appointment to assess a tooth or area before extraction, implant or other oral surgery, and to plan the safest approach. At EM Dent it is carried out by the clinic's surgically experienced dentists, with in-house CBCT and panoramic imaging available to aid planning. It is also the point at which suitability for inhalation sedation is assessed for anxious patients.
About this treatment
A surgical consultation is the planning step before oral surgery such as a complex extraction, an implant or the removal of an impacted wisdom tooth. Its purpose is to examine the tooth or area carefully, review any imaging, explain the options and their risks and benefits, and agree a clear plan before any procedure is carried out — so you know what to expect and how to prepare.
At EM Dent the dentist assesses the relevant teeth, gums and surrounding structures and, where useful, uses the clinic's in-house panoramic X-ray or CBCT (3D) imaging to see the position of roots, nerves and bone in detail. This is particularly valuable for impacted teeth and implant planning, where the precise anatomy matters.
