Elysium Aesthetics + Longevity offers both PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and the more advanced PRFM (Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix) protocols for facial rejuvenation in their River North Chicago clinic. PRP is prepared by drawing a small volume of the patient's own blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to concentrate platelets and growth factors, and then either injecting the resulting plasma directly into targeted areas or applying it topically during a microneedling session — the channels created by the needles allow the PRP to penetrate into the dermis where growth factors stimulate fibroblast activity and collagen production. PRFM is the next-generation formulation: adding calcium chloride to PRP before activation causes the fibrinogen in plasma to polymerise into a fibrin matrix, trapping platelets within a three-dimensional scaffold. This scaffold acts as a slow-release reservoir — instead of releasing all growth factors immediately upon injection, PRFM delivers them over seven to ten days as the fibrin matrix gradually breaks down. The sustained growth factor release profile is associated with more prolonged tissue stimulation and, for some patients, a more gradual and natural-looking improvement trajectory. Treatment areas include the full face (particularly for fine lines, skin dullness, and early laxity), under-eye hollowing, the neck, and the backs of hands. PRFM sessions run 45–60 minutes when combined with microneedling. A course of three to four sessions approximately one month apart is the standard recommendation. The treatment uses the patient's own biological material, eliminating the risk of allergic reaction to a foreign substance.
