PRP Treatment (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

Type

PRP/PRF Therapy

Duration

1 hour

Platelet-rich plasma uses a small sample of your own blood, spun to concentrate its platelets and growth factors, which is then injected to support skin repair and rejuvenation. Because it is derived entirely from you, it is well tolerated and a natural option for improving skin quality, including the delicate under-eye area and the scalp. A platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) variant is also offered. A short course gives the most noticeable results.

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is a regenerative treatment that uses your own blood's healing components. A small sample is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets, which carry growth factors associated with tissue repair and collagen production. This concentrated plasma is then injected into the skin to support tone, texture and firmness, or into the scalp to support hair condition. At Dr Wiszniewska the process — blood draw, preparation and treatment — takes around forty-five to sixty minutes, with numbing cream applied for comfort. Because the material is entirely your own, there is no risk of allergy to a foreign substance, which makes PRP a popular choice for patients who prefer a natural approach. Expect mild redness or small bruises for a day or two. Results build gradually as the skin renews over several weeks, so a course of sessions spaced a few weeks apart is usually recommended, with maintenance once or twice a year. The clinic also offers platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), a related preparation that releases growth factors more slowly. PRP is suited to dull or tired skin, fine lines, the thin skin under the eyes and to thinning hair. Suitability is assessed at consultation; it is not performed in pregnancy or in certain blood or clotting conditions.
