Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing delivers energy into the skin in a grid of microscopic treatment columns, leaving islands of untreated skin between them. This fractional approach is associated with a strong collagen-remodelling and renewal response that can smooth texture, soften fine lines and wrinkles, improve acne scarring and stretch marks and even out tone, while the untreated bridges of skin allow faster recovery than older, fully ablative resurfacing of the entire surface.
