Cryolipolysis (Fat Freezing)

Cryolipolysis exploits a fundamental biological difference between fat cells (adipocytes) and the surrounding skin, muscle, and nerve tissue: adipocytes are significantly more susceptible to cold-induced apoptosis than other cell types. When subcutaneous fat is cooled to temperatures between −5°C and −10°C for a defined period, the fat cells begin a programmed cell death process while the overlying skin and underlying tissues remain unharmed. The destroyed fat cells are then cleared by the body's lymphatic and immune systems over the following 8 to 12 weeks. The cryolipolysis applicator works by drawing the targeted tissue into a cup using vacuum suction, then applying precisely controlled cooling panels to both sides of the tissue fold. The treatment cycle typically lasts 35 to 60 minutes per applicator per area. During the first few minutes of cooling, patients feel an intense cold and suction sensation that usually resolves into numbness as the tissue temperature drops, making the remainder of the session comfortable enough for patients to read or use their phone.
