Intense pulsed light (IPL/SWT) used to reduce sun-related pigmentation, age spots and uneven tone by targeting excess melanin in the skin. The light is absorbed by the darker patches, which often appear to darken briefly and then flake away as the skin renews. Treatment can cover the face, neck, décolleté or hands, and the same technology is offered in a separate programme aimed at facial redness.
About this treatment
IPL (intense pulsed light), here using SWT technology, delivers broad-spectrum light that is preferentially absorbed by concentrations of pigment in the skin. At Dr Kopaczyński the skin is cleansed and protected before treatment, and a cool sensation with brief flashes of light is felt as the handpiece passes over the area; a session usually takes around twenty to thirty minutes.
