IPL Pigmentation Reduction (SWT)

Intense pulsed light (IPL/SWT) used to reduce sun-related pigmentation, age spots and uneven tone by targeting excess melanin in the skin. The light is absorbed by the darker patches, which often appear to darken briefly and then flake away as the skin renews. Treatment can cover the face, neck, décolleté or hands, and the same technology is offered in a separate programme aimed at facial redness.

IPL (intense pulsed light), here using SWT technology, delivers broad-spectrum light that is preferentially absorbed by concentrations of pigment in the skin. The light energy heats and breaks up the excess melanin responsible for sun spots, age spots and patchy tone; treated marks commonly darken for a few days before lifting and flaking away as the surface skin renews, leaving a more even complexion. The same platform can be set up to target the dilated superficial vessels behind facial redness in a separate programme. At Dr Kopaczyński the skin is cleansed and protected before treatment, and a cool sensation with brief flashes of light is felt as the handpiece passes over the area; a session usually takes around twenty to thirty minutes. There is minimal downtime — mild warmth and slight pinkness settle quickly, and the temporary darkening of spots is an expected part of how the treatment works. Because results build as pigment clears and tone evens out, a course of sessions is often recommended for the best outcome, with strict sun protection throughout as recent tanning is a contraindication.
