Hyperhidrosis Treatment (Botulinum Toxin)

Botulinum toxin injected into the skin to reduce excessive sweating in areas where antiperspirants are not enough — the underarms, palms or soles. By temporarily blocking the nerve signals that activate sweat glands, the treatment can markedly reduce local sweating for several months. Treatment for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) uses botulinum toxin placed as a grid of small intradermal injections across the affected area. The toxin temporarily interrupts the chemical signal between nerves and the eccrine sweat glands, which is associated with a substantial reduction in local sweat production for a period of months before the effect gradually wears off and the session can be repeated. At Dr Kopaczyński the physician first confirms the area to be treated — most commonly the underarms, but also the palms of the hands or the soles of the feet — and, for the hands and feet, takes steps to keep the more sensitive injections comfortable. The procedure itself usually takes around twenty to forty minutes. There is little downtime; you can return to everyday activities while avoiding intense heat and heavy exercise for the rest of the day. Results typically become noticeable within several days as sweating in the treated region settles, and the benefit commonly lasts several months. The treatment is suited to adults whose underarm, hand or foot sweating interferes with daily life or clothing despite using strong antiperspirants.
