The Glycolic Acid Peel at Dr. Jahnke & Colleagues uses NEOSTRATA professional-grade glycolic acid to perform controlled exfoliation of the epidermis. Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) with the smallest molecular size of any AHA, allowing it to penetrate the skin effectively and promote the shedding of dead skin cells from the stratum corneum. The peel stimulates cell turnover, revealing fresher skin beneath and triggering a mild wound-healing response that can improve collagen production over a series of treatments. Clinically, patients see improvements in skin texture and smoothness, reduction of fine lines and superficial wrinkles, evening of skin tone and reduction of mild hyperpigmentation, and a brighter overall complexion.
