A maxillary sinus lift raises the floor of the sinus and adds bone graft material to create enough height for implants in the upper back jaw, where bone is often thin. It is a preparatory procedure that makes implant placement possible in cases that would otherwise lack support. About this treatment

In the upper back jaw the maxillary sinus sits close above the tooth roots, and after teeth are lost the available bone height there is frequently too limited to anchor an implant. A sinus lift (sinus floor elevation) addresses this by gently lifting the membrane that lines the sinus floor and placing bone graft material in the space created, which over a healing period matures into bone with enough height to support an implant.

At the practice this is carried out as a planned surgical procedure under local anaesthetic, with the approach tailored to how much extra height is required.
