Dr Daniel Chang Aesthetic Clinic's thread lift programme uses biocompatible absorbable threads to mechanically reposition descended facial tissues and trigger the body's own collagen-building response — achieving a natural facelift effect without surgery, general anaesthesia, or extended recovery time. The procedure uses two primary thread types: PDO (polydioxanone) and PCL (polycaprolactone). PDO threads are the established standard, lasting 6–9 months before reabsorption, during which they stimulate a controlled fibroblast response and new collagen along the thread track. PCL threads dissolve more slowly over 18–24 months, providing a longer window of collagen stimulation and structural support. Both types are available in smooth (for skin texture improvement), twisted/spiral (for volume), and barbed/cogged (for mechanical lifting of ptotic tissue). During treatment, local anaesthetic is administered at the entry points. Fine needles introduce the barbed threads through micro-openings in the skin. The thread hooks immediately grasp sagging subcutaneous fat pads — particularly in the jowl, nasolabial, and cheek regions — and physically lift them back to a more youthful position. The effect is visible immediately upon completion of the procedure and continues to improve over 4–8 weeks as collagen remodelling progresses. Recovery from thread lift involves mild swelling and possible bruising resolving within 3–5 days. Patients are advised to avoid vigorous massage and facial exercises for 2 weeks.
