IPL is a broad-spectrum light technology that selectively targets melanin — the pigment in hair — without damaging the surrounding skin, making it an established choice for long-term hair reduction. The mechanism of IPL hair removal is based on selective photothermolysis: the pulsed light energy is absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft and follicle, converting to heat that destroys the follicle's regenerative capacity. Because hair grows in cycles (anagen, catagen, telogen), IPL is most effective during the active growth phase (anagen), which is why multiple sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart are required to treat hairs across all growth phases. A course of 6–8 sessions typically achieves 70–90% permanent hair reduction. IPL hair removal at the clinic can be applied to common treatment areas including the upper lip, chin, jawline, underarms, arms, legs, bikini line, and Brazilian areas.
