Treatment usually begins with a consultation and often a mock-up so the planned result can be previewed before any work is done. Depending on the veneer type, a minimal amount of enamel may be reduced to make room for the shell, after which a digital scan or impression is taken; non-prep veneers aim to preserve the natural tooth surface.
