Mezonite threads at DiVine Clinic are smooth (barb-free) resorbable threads inserted in a mesh pattern to stimulate collagen production and improve skin firmness without a strong mechanical lifting effect. Unlike APTOS lifting threads, mezonites do not reposition tissue — instead, they create a scaffolding network that acts as a substrate for fibroblast activity and new collagen synthesis. MUDr. Petra Moravcová inserts the fine threads via thin needles after applying numbing cream, placing them in a cross-hatched or star pattern beneath the skin surface. The threads dissolve over approximately 6 months, but the collagen scaffold they generate persists for up to 2 years, delivering progressive skin tightening and elasticity improvement. Mild swelling, redness, and minor bruising may appear for a few days. Mezonites are particularly suited to patients with fine or thin skin who want collagen stimulation without a strong vector lift.
Mezonite threads (sometimes referred to as smooth PDO or PLLA mono-threads or mezo-threads) are a distinct category within the thread therapy family, differentiated from barbed lifting threads by the absence of anchoring barbs. Whereas APTOS or cog threads mechanically grip and reposition subcutaneous tissue, mezonites are inserted in a woven or grid pattern where their primary function is to create a physical scaffold within the dermis and upper subcutaneous layer that provokes a controlled foreign-body response and, through this, drives collagen neosynthesis. **Thread materials:** Mezonites used at DiVine Clinic are composed of polydioxanone (PDO) or poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PDO is the same material used in dissolvable surgical sutures; it is fully metabolised within 4–6 months. PLLA threads persist somewhat longer (6–9 months) but both stimulate a fibroblast response proportional to the volume and surface area of the foreign material present. As the thread dissolves, it is replaced by a fibrous collagen track — each thread effectively 'plants' a collagen strand within the tissue. **Mesh pattern placement:** MUDr. Moravcová inserts threads via ultra-thin needles (typically 30G–32G) in a cross-hatched, fan, or star pattern over the treatment zone — face, neck, décolletage, or body area. Multiple threads are placed per zone to maximise the density of the collagen scaffold. Because no barbs are present, the insertion is less traumatic and recovery is significantly faster than with lifting threads. **Effects over time:** - Immediate: Slight swelling and tension at thread insertion zones; some patients notice an immediate mild firmness due to the threads occupying the tissue space - 4–8 weeks: Collagen synthesis is active; skin begins to feel firmer and more elastic - 3–6 months: Peak collagen remodelling; visible improvement in skin firmness, texture, and fine wrinkle reduction - 12–24 months: The collagen scaffold matures and provides ongoing structural support; visible results typically persist for 18–24 months after the threads themselves have fully dissolved **Comparison with APTOS lifting threads:** Mezonites are not a substitute for lifting threads in patients with significant ptosis — they do not mechanically reposition tissue. They are complementary or standalone for patients who want improved skin quality and firmness in a zone without the recovery demands of barbed thread insertion. Mezonites can be combined with HA fillers (placed in adjacent sessions) to address both quality and volume simultaneously. **Post-treatment:** Minor swelling, redness, and localised bruising at insertion points may occur and typically resolve within 2–5 days. Sensitivity in the treated zone for up to 2 weeks. Exercise, massage, saunas, and sun exposure should be avoided for 2–4 weeks to allow the threads to integrate without disruption. **Contraindications:** Active skin infection or inflammation, pregnancy, autoimmune disease, keloid tendency, blood clotting disorders.
