PDO Thread Lift

PDO thread treatments use absorbable surgical threads placed under the skin to lift and reposition tissue or, in the case of finer mono threads, to stimulate collagen and improve skin quality. Lifting threads suit early jowls and a softening jawline, while revitalising threads are used to firm and refresh areas such as the cheeks or neck. The number of threads is tailored to the area, and results combine an immediate effect with gradual collagen stimulation.

Thread lifting uses threads made from polydioxanone (PDO) — a material long used in absorbable surgical sutures — introduced under the skin with a fine needle or cannula. Barbed lifting threads grip the tissue and are used to gently reposition and support areas that have started to descend, giving an immediate subtle lift, while finer smooth or mono threads are placed in a mesh pattern to stimulate the skin's collagen response and firm the surface over time. Over the following months the threads are gradually absorbed, but the collagen laid down around them is intended to maintain part of the effect. Lifting threads are typically used for early jowls, a softening jawline or a mild brow droop, whereas revitalising threads are chosen to improve skin quality on the cheeks, neck or other areas. Expect some tenderness, mild swelling and occasional small bruises for a few days, and you may feel slight tightness as the threads settle. Results from lifting threads are commonly associated with a duration of several months up to around a year, depending on the thread and the area, and they are often combined with injectables for a fuller plan.
